The client had a popular ‘suntrap’ out the back of this traditional style pub. It was very busy on bright, sunny days, and did little or no business when it was dull and overcast as if often is. After renting a temporary stretch tent for part of a season, the idea was to have a custom cut stretch canopy covering part of the beer garden. Now the area gets constant use, and even doubles up as a coffee shop during the daytime. Also, the stretch tent was preferred in bright yellow.
The design aim in in this instance was to have the stretch tent canopy cover all the space that the client wanted covered and none of the area that the client wanted to keep as part of the open ‘sun trap’ space. The posts had to be positioned to allow vehicles access if needed, with some of the posts cantilevered over an existing pergola porch at the rear of the premises.
A detailed consultation and site survey was undertaken, with a few revisions of drawings sent to client. The custom canopy was designed to maximise useable space and also to allow for changes to be made to the area in the future that would still work with the chosen shape and size.
The outcome is a bright spacious custom canopy that links the main premises to a converted shipping container that acts a seating area and a coffee service van. The stretch tent canopy also allows the container to be shifted in position some time in the future and still be within the covered space. There is also enough clearance at the side entrance to allow for a van to access the back of the premises, which is a mandatory specification.
‘Cover Solutions were very professional from start to finish. Everything was planned perfectly, and I would have no hesitation in recommending their services. Since our stretch tent was installed, we’ve had no issues with it and our customers love the look and the comfort it brings. Thanks to Phil and his team.’
